Introduction to Resin Production Equipment

The resin production equipment mainly consists of resin reaction kettle, vertical fractionation column, horizontal condenser (tube condenser), water storage tank, oil overflow tank, pipeline, etc. The entire set of equipment and material contact parts need to be made of stainless steel material, which is a key equipment for producing unsaturated polyester resin, phenolic resin, epoxy resin, ABS resin, and paint.


Scope of application of resin production equipment

The resin production equipment is suitable for producing unsaturated polyester resin, phenolic resin, epoxy resin, and ABS resin. The added dropping equipment can produce adhesive, water-based lotion, etc.

Resin production line process flow

Add the tested materials into the reaction kettle from the feeding port according to the process requirements. Under the protection of inert gas, start the stirring device and use a heat medium to raise the temperature, so that the materials in the kettle can undergo sufficient alcoholysis, esterification, and condensation reactions at a certain temperature (some resin varieties should also continuously add solvents, monomers, initiators, etc. to complete the polymerization reaction). Throughout the entire reaction process, indicators such as acid value and viscosity are detected online using a sampling device. The water vapor and solvent vapor generated during the reaction process are recovered and drained through distillation columns, condensers, and water separators. After the reaction is completed, the resin is pumped to the dilution kettle or directly diluted with solvent in the reaction kettle. After filtration, it is inspected and packaged for storage.

1、 Selection of resin reaction kettle

Resin reaction kettle, as the main equipment for resin production, can be divided into low-temperature resin reaction kettle (reaction temperature less than 150 ℃) and high-temperature resin reaction kettle (reaction temperature 150-300 ℃) according to the reaction temperature.
According to their structure, they can be divided into jacketed reactors, half tube jacketed reactors, double jacketed reactors, etc.
According to the material of the kettle body, it can be divided into carbon steel reaction kettle, stainless steel reaction kettle, carbon steel surface sintered enamel reaction kettle, etc.
According to the heat transfer method, it can be divided into steam heating reaction kettle, organic heat carrier heating anti virtual kettle, electric heating reaction kettle, far-infrared heating reaction kettle, open flame heating reaction kettle, etc.
According to specifications, it can be divided into small-scale reaction vessels (capacity below 50L), pilot scale reaction vessels (capacity below 1000L), and conventional production reaction vessels (capacity above 1000L).
Due to the different types of resins produced by different uses, there are some differences in their production processes, and the structure and supporting equipment of reaction kettles are also different. It is customary to use the names of resins to classify and name them, such as alkyd resin reaction kettles, acrylic resin reaction kettles, epoxy resin summer straight kettles, amino resin reaction kettles, polyurethane reaction kettles, fluorine resin reaction kettles, unsaturated resin reaction kettles, lotion one kettles, curing agent reaction kettles, etc.

2、 Selection of matching condenser

The widely used condenser is a tube condenser, which can be installed vertically or horizontally according to its position. For processes that require reflux, inclined horizontal condensers are mostly used. More materials go through the tube side, while cooling water goes through the shell side. The inclination angle (angle with the water surface) of the horizontal condenser is mostly 5-8 degrees. The heat transfer area of the condenser depends on the quantity of condensed material, condensation time, and the temperature of the cooling water

3、 Selection of water separator

The function of a water separator is to collect the liquid mixture that has passed through the condenser and separate it into layers based on their different densities. The upper solvent is returned to the reactor through a U-shaped reflux tube, and water is discharged from the bottom of the water separator. Generally, a 1 cubic meter reactor is equipped with a 50-60L water separator; Generally, the production of amino resin is equipped with two water separators.

4、 Selection of dilution kettle

The structure of the dilution kettle is similar to that of a reaction kettle, generally a vertical container with stirring, equipped with a jacket or a coil inside, and equipped with a vertical condenser. The material of the dilution kettle can mostly be carbon steel, and for resin varieties with high production requirements

Characteristics of resin
